Michael J. Hogan

Mr. Hogan is a qualified Trainer to develop and conduct harassment prevention training required by A.B. 1825.

Michael J. Hogan has represented employers throughout California in all areas of traditional labor law, labor relations and employment law for over 32 years.

Mr. Hogan’s experience includes representing employers in state and federal courts and administrative agencies. He has regularly appeared before the National Labor Relations Board, Agricultural Labor Relations Board, California Labor Commissioner, Department of Fair Employment and Housing, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, OSHA Appeals Board, Department of Labor and other state and federal administrative agencies.

Mr. Hogan has trained thousands of supervisors and managers regarding sexual harassment prevention and all discrimination subjects. He has prepared policies against harassment, investigated harassment allegations, counseled employers how to prevent and resolve harassment claims and litigated harassment cases.

Mr. Hogan nurtures long-term relationships with clients to ensure they are aware of evolving employment law issues. Through regular counseling and collaboration with human resource staff, Mr. Hogan counsels his clients to avoid the pitfalls which arise in employment issues including hiring, evaluations, medical and disability leaves, layoffs, discipline, terminations and acquisitions.

PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES

Mr. Hogan was recently recognized by the Labor Relations Institute as one of the top 100 labor law attorneys in the nation. Mr. Hogan's inclusion in the ranking places him in the top 1 percent of more than 8,700 labor relations attorneys.

Mr. Hogan was formerly a senior partner in a national law firm before forming Hogan & Klingenberger which merged with Dowling, Aaron & Keeler on August 1, 2007.

Mr. Hogan is involved in many business and trade organizations and is a frequent speaker throughout Central California on contemporary labor and employment law topics. He often is quoted in publications regarding significant new developments and cases in the employment arena.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

Active in several community charitable organizations, Mr. Hogan provides pro bono labor and employment legal services to nonprofit organizations.

EDUCATION

Mr. Hogan received both his undergraduate and law degrees from the University of San Francisco where he was a member of the Law Review.

Prior to attending college, Mr. Hogan honorably served in the United States Army, including overseas duty in Vietnam. He is admitted to practice before all California courts.
