Born Fresno, California, June 10, 1933. Admitted to Bar 1960, California and U.S. District Court. Education: University of California Berkeley, (A.A., 1954), California State University, Fresno (B.A., Business Administration, 1956); Hastings College of Law, University of California, San Francisco (LL.B., 1959; Order of the Coif, Thurston Society, Associate Editor, Hastings Law Journal). Member: Fresno County Bar Association (President, 1976); Association of Business Trial Lawyers. Judicial Career: Fresno County Superior Court Judge (1985-1990; Assistant Presiding Judge). Associate Justice, California Court of Appeal (1990-2001; Assistant Presiding Judge).
Since his retirement from the bench in 2001, Justice Thaxter has been engaged in providing mediation and arbitration services in a variety of civil cases. He associated with the firm in March, 2003, where he continues to serve as an arbitrator and mediator.
