David A. Dixon
Shareholder
A manager before law school, Mr. Dixon helps employers find solutions in all settings. He counsels employers in daily decision making and frequently trains managers, supervisors and employees on employment issues, including sexual harassment prevention training. He defends class actions and individual employee actions in federal and state court litigation, arbitration, and mediation, as well as before numerous administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the California Department of Fair Employment & Housing, the California Department of Labor Standards Enforcement, Cal-OSHA, the National Labor Relations Board, the Agricultural Labor Relations Board, and the Workers’ Compensation Appeals Board. He has successfully resolved numerous cases alleging retaliation, harassment, discrimination, wage & hour violations, and other employment claims.
Mr. Dixon has substantial experience counseling employers on all labor & employment law issues relating to reductions in force, including expertise regarding advance notification requirements and minimizing litigation risks associated with downsizing. He has also counseled employers through numerous situations involving industrial sabotage (including related unfair competition and trade secrets litigation), workplace violence and threats of workplace violence.
Professional Recognitions & Awards
In late 2007, the Chief Judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of California, Garland E. Burrell, Jr., appointed Mr. Dixon, pursuant to 28 U.S.C. § 333, to a three-year term (2008-2010) as an Eastern District Lawyer Representative to the Ninth Circuit Judicial Conference.
Mr. Dixon was selected in 2006 by the California State Council of the Society for Human Resource Management (Cal-SHRM) to serve as the Legal Expert on Employee and Labor Relations. In that role, he helped develop and co-author the first edition of the SHRM California Learning SystemTM, and the second edition, published in 2009.
